OpenAI and Malta announce a national program that offers ChatGPT Plus to citizens who complete an AI literacy course
OpenAI and the Government of Malta say they are launching what they describe as a first-of-its-kind national partnership to provide ChatGPT Plus to Maltese citizens. Under the program, participants complete an AI literacy course developed by the University of Malta and then receive one year of ChatGPT Plus at no cost.
OpenAI says the first phase begins in May and will be managed by the Malta Digital Innovation Authority. The company says the program will expand as more Maltese residents and citizens abroad complete the course.
OpenAI says the course is designed to teach people what AI can and cannot do, how to use it responsibly, and how to apply it at home and at work. The company says the Malta initiative is part of its OpenAI for Countries program, which it also says is already working with governments including Estonia and Greece.
