Anthropic signs a $1.8 billion cloud deal with Akamai

Anthropic signed a $1.8 billion computing deal with Akamai to support demand for its AI software.

Akamai separately said a leading frontier model provider committed $1.8 billion over seven years for cloud infrastructure services, and later reporting identified Anthropic as the customer. Akamai shares rose 25% after the company disclosed the long-term deal without naming the customer, and the stock was up about 28% in regular trading the next day after Anthropic was identified as the counterparty.

Akamai forecast second-quarter revenue of $1.08 billion to $1.10 billion. Both Akamai and Anthropic declined comment.
