Google pushes Gemini deeper into daily tools with agentic app, Workspace, and multimodal updates

Google’s latest Gemini updates show the company pushing the assistant across daily productivity, search, creative, and agentic workflows. The Gemini app update announced at Google I/O 2026 listed more than 900 million monthly users across 230 countries and more than 70 languages.

The May 19 Gemini app update introduced Gemini 3.5 Flash, Gemini Omni, Daily Brief, Gemini Spark, a redesigned Gemini interface, and a macOS app path for future local workflow support. Google says Daily Brief can work across connected apps such as Gmail and Calendar to produce a personalized morning briefing, while Gemini Spark is designed as a 24/7 personal AI agent for tasks under user direction.

Google’s May 29 Gemini Omni and Gemini 3.5 demo post added more rollout details. Gemini Omni Flash is rolling out to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers through the Gemini app and Google Flow, with no-cost access planned through YouTube Shorts and YouTube Create. Gemini 3.5 Flash is generally available through Google Antigravity, the Gemini API in AI Studio, Android Studio, Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, Gemini Enterprise, AI Mode in Search, and the Gemini app.

The same demo post describes Gemini 3.5 Flash as the default model for the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search globally. It also says 3.5 Flash powers information agents, generative UI in Search, custom experiences such as dashboards and mini apps, and Gemini Spark workflows connected to Workspace tools including Gmail, Docs, and Slides.
